With each of the wines released to the King Estate Tower Club, our culinary department creates an original paired recipe. It’s a practice that demonstrates the ability of our wines to pair with food and also showcases the seasonal, organic menus featured at our estate restaurant. New recipes are presented quarterly for wine club members and are available on our website.

In mid-August, members of the Classic & Ultimate tiers of the Tower Club received a special wine. It is a blend of Pinot Gris from the five vineyards that make up the core, or “backbone” of the Signature Pinot Gris blend. Only 300 cases of this wine were made. It is sold exclusively at the winery and the online store.
Winemaker Tasting Notes
Color: light straw
Aroma: honey dew melon, nectarine, lime, pear, peach
Flavors: papaya, lime, minerality, mango, star fruit, lychee
Mouthfeel: rich full bodied and crisp balanced acidity
Instead of telling you what we think pairs with the Backbone Pinot Gris, we thought we’d open the door for you to send us your recipes. We want to taste and gain inspiration from your original concoctions, so we’re announcing a recipe contest.

The winning recipe will be selected based on its ability to pair with the 2011 Backbone Pinot Gris and overall deliciousness. The King Estate culinary team will prepare this recipe and feature it in a video cooking demo which we will post to our blog and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc).
