2009 Acrobat Pinot Gris - Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Best Buys of 2010
Wine Enthusiast’s annual list of the 100 best value-priced wines of the year included only two Oregon wines, and only one of them was a Pinot Gris, the 2009 Acrobat Pinot Gris by King Estate.

Wine Enthusiast magazine reviews thousands and thousands of wines over the course of a given year and the Editors state that they award approximately 5% with a ‘Best Buy’ designation. ‘Best Buy’ signifies that the wine has scored well relative to its economical price tag. At the end of each year they round them up and determine ‘The Top 100 Best Buys of The Year.’

This year’s Top 100 is full of many great values, but only two Oregon wines stands among them, the 2009 Acrobat Pinot Gris & the 2009 Thistle Dundee Hills Pinot Blanc:

Acrobat 2009 Pinot Gris (Oregon) $12
89 Points, Top 100 Best Buys of 2010.

Even better than the excellent 2008 Acrobat, this ups the alcohol to about 13% and gives the impression of dryness, though there might be a trace of residual sugar. In any event, it’s loaded with pretty pear fruit flavor, lightly dusted with cinnamon spice, and fills the mouth with its body and gentle hint of spritz. A fine summer sipper.
