The Farm To School Program (managed by the Willamette Farm & Food Coalition) and the School Garden Project of Lane County are the heart and soul of Slow Food Eugene’s efforts to make a better world through the food we eat. With all the budget cutting, they need our help more than ever.
This year, we are supporting these organizations with a Fall Garden Harvest event that will surprise and delight you. For the first time Slow Food Eugene brings its passion for locally sourced fresh-from-the-field ingredients into King Estate’s gardens and kitchen. Each visit to King Estate brings new discoveries, as they expand their offerings in both the farming and production of fine foods. During our evening with King Estate, we will: Savor a choice of creatively prepared entrees from the Oregon coast or a local ranch, generously served with organic produce from the Estate gardens and orchards and paired with award winning wines. You will have your choice of slow braised lamb shank or albacore tuna loin.
Tour the Estate gardens with Master Gardener Jessie Russell. Visit the charcuterie kitchen for an inside glimpse of this unique specialty with Chef Tim Bass. Sample regionally sourced appetizer bites and meet local food producers, on hand to share their passion and labors. Meet Head Chef and culinary genius Ben Nadolny, who will speak on his experiences and challenges in the Estate kitchen and plans for the future. Representatives of the School Garden Project and the Farm to School Program will share their accomplishments. Relax to acoustic guitar folk and jazz by Ken Luker and bid on exciting Silent Auction items, including a private cottage stay on the Estate.
