The Restaurant at King Estate is here to stay!
This year King Estate faced a surprising challenge to our restaurant’s operation. Many of you know first-hand that our restaurant program is built on a firm dedication to support local sustainable agriculture, and it is just one of a great many rising businesses in Oregon’s food and wine industry that promote values like organic farming, fair wages, and fostering a vibrant local economy. In many ways the misguided appeal of our restaurant permit was aimed at senselessly undercutting the rising food and wine industry in Oregon.

With your very, very important support, which came in many forms: petition signatures, letters to legislators, blog comments and more, we undertook a major initiative at the Oregon legislature to protect ourselves and like businesses across this great state. As a result, we were not only able to protect our restaurant but we changed the law for the benefit of all wineries, and even paved the way for a few others in the state to establish their own full service restaurants. It was a profound success that began with a collective effort to speak up for common sense, for the future, and for responsible job creation.

We had a lot of help from legislators across the state and from both sides of the aisle. In particular the Lane County delegation stood out, and the leadership of Representative Paul Holvey and Senator Floyd Prozanski was indispensable. Governor Kitzhaber supported the Oregon wine industry and us all the way. We owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to them and the overwhelming majority of their colleagues, and most importantly to you.

Thank you for supporting us, and supporting sustainable food and wine in Oregon, an industry that is quickly garnering a worldwide reputation and drawing people to visit our state from all around the globe.

      Bravo!! I was introduced to your Pinot Gris when my “fella” randomly selected it at a restaurant six years ago here in So Cal. It still is his favorite white wine. My brother is in Corvallis and I visited him in Jul 2010. We are wine enthusiasts, so of course we had to come to King Estate for lunch and wine tasting!! We loved it! Can’t wait to come back there for another great lunch and tasting.

      All I have to say is this news reminds me of a very old commercial OH! OH! WHAT A RELIEF IT IS

      We had dinner on the patio last night. It was one of the best meals I can remember having.  Served by the best staff in the area. It was paired with an incredible wine. All that just 20 minutes from home. Feels like I’m on vacation when I am out there.
