1997 Reserve Chardonnay
Winemaker's Notes
This golden-hued Reserve Chardonnay displays rich tropical fruits, citrus, peach, and honey aromas commingled with floral blossom, nutmeg, cinnamon-clove spice and vanilla.
With a soft entrance, flavors of ripe tropical fruits with passion and citrus fruits integrate well with the wine's vanilla, oak spice, and nutmeg notes. In the mouth, it is rich and viscous with lingering oak tannins and a balanced acidity. This wine is smooth mid-palate with a great long, clean finish. Suggested retail: $20.00

Growing Season
1997 provided Oregon with an ideal, sunny growing season. Bud break and flowering occurred without incidence and gave insight into what was to become a great vintage.
Throughout the summer months, Oregon received moderate amounts of rainfall providing nutrients to most dry irrigated vineyards. Although the harvest was punctuated by substantial amounts of rainfall, the fruit arrived clean and mature.
King Estate chose to thin both its own and contracted vineyards up to four times during the summer months in order to reduce volume and increase quality.
