1993 Reserve Pinot Gris

Winemaker's Notes

The Reserve Pinot Gris is blended from wine lots that show the most intense varietal characteristics. The selection is made after fermentation and aging.

The 1993 King Estate Reserve Pinot Gris displays intense floral, melon, and tropical fruit aromas with hints of vanilla and citrus. In the mouth, opulent flavors of pear, apricot, lemon, and nutmeg are complimented by superb acid balance and a long intense finish. Suggested retail: $14.00

Technical Notes

Final Analysis: 13.2% alcohol; TA: 0.6 g/100ml; pH: 3.3

Fermentation: 100% stainless steel, temperature controlled tank fermentation. No malolactic fermentation.

Aging: On lees for 8 months. 16% barrel aged.

Growing Season
Oregon weather was warm during the bloom period and the fruit set was exceptional.

The summer was unseasonably cool and cloudy which significantly prolonged fruit maturation. Fortunately, the fall was hot and dry and the fruit reached full maturity, and was harvested before the fall rains started.

The long maturation period produced fruit with excellent depth and complexity of flavor.
