King Estate is one of the high fliers from Oregon and is making sufficient wine for it to be found across the entire USA. More importantly their wines are improving all the time.
If you have never tried the Pinot Gris varietal before, this is an ideal starting point as it will assuredly convert you to Oregon Pinot Gris. It is a full-flavored, distinctive and stylish wine, which was aged on its lees for 10 months. Curiously, 54% of its volume was aged in large oak ovals for 6 months, but that, no doubt, is one of the factors that make it so distinctive.
It has a bright straw color, and the bouquet is redolent of fresh apple blossom and tropical fruits. These are confirmed on the palate with a fine balance of acidity. Its elegant palate offers peach and mandarin and is very smooth before a lingering, delicious finish.
