1997 Signature Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir

Winemaker's Notes

This brilliant, deep garnet Pinot Noir displays bright cherry, raspberry, and blueberry aromas enhanced by sweet oak spice, vanilla, and rose petals.

With a soft, smooth entry, strawberry and raspberry flavors are accented by black pepper and delicate hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Beautifully balanced, with well integrated oak and a solid acid structure, this wine offers a long, smooth sweet oak finish. Suggested retail: $20.00

Growing Season
1997 provided Oregon with an ideal, sunny growing season. Bud break and flowering occurred without incidence and gave insight into what was to become a great vintage.

Throughout the summer months, Oregon received moderate amounts of rainfall, providing nutrients to most dry irrigated vineyards.

Although the harvest was punctuated by substantial amounts of rainfall, the fruit arrived clean and mature.

King Estate chose to thin both its own and contracted pinot noir vineyards up to four times during the summer months in order to reduce volume and increase quality.
