1997 Pinot Noir, OR $18
Light brick garnet color. Alcohol and mint aroma. Light-bodied and austere on the palate, with cherry fruit and toast in the finish. Serve with a platter of antipasto.

King Estate 1997, Oregon
In all ways a smaller, less involving wine than its richer partner above, this light, slightly rounded Pinot is generally wanting in fruit and tilts somewhat towards thinness before fading away in a narrow, mildly bitter finish.

King Estate 1997 Pinot Noir, $20
Not flashy, but for a '97, doggone nice. Musty, cherry aromas, flavors favoring plum, with substantial tannins, nice weight, coats the mouth like paint.
