1997 Pfeiffer Pinot Noir
Winemaker's Notes
This brilliant, deep garnet wine displays gamay-like aromas of bright cherry, blueberry, and raspberry, with hints of rose petals, hay, and cola underlying a sweet oak spice. In the mouth, bing-cherry and raspberry flavors precede notes of chocolate, coffee, and toasty oak spice.
This full-bodied wine offers well-integrated oak with a soft acidity, and gentle tannins that marry with multiple layers of cherry and berry fruit. Long, smooth finish. Suggested retail: $40.00

Growing Season
The 1997 year provided Oregon with an ideal, sunny growing season. Bud break and
flowering occurred without incidence and gave insight into what was to become a
great vintage.
Throughout the summer months, Oregon received moderate amounts of rainfall, providing nutrients to most dry-irrigated vineyards.
Although the harvest was punctuated by substantial amounts of rainfall, the fruit arrived clean and mature.
King Estate chose to thin both its own and contracted vineyards up to four times during the summer months in order to reduce volume and increase quality.
