THE WINERYTHEWINERY

Wine Production

We responsibly produce world-class wines that are consistently excellent, consistently available and consistently reasonable in their price. That’s been our covenant to you, the people who support our winemaking.

Anticipated Arrival

During harvest, grapes are carefully hand-picked and brought to our crush pad, where we produce 350,000 cases of wine annually.

Worth the Wait

Our two fermentation wings house stainless steel tanks, in which our wines are fermented and perfected.

Worth the Wait
It is very rare that a drop of Pinot Gris sees the inside of an Oak Barrel within our winery, unless the winemakers are up to one of their little experiments.

Mighty Oaks

Mighty Oaks

Our underground barrel rooms house French oak barrels from more than 28 renowned cooperages, sourced from specific forests and grains. Above the Barrel Room is a pear orchard with 16 trees to mimic the 16 columns in the room below.

Accounting for Taste

After time-intensive attention to responsible sourcing, growing and producing, taste why King Estate is a leader in Oregon winemaking and named America's favorite Pinot Gris.

VINEYARDSVINEYARDS

Hand-Grown Estate Grapes

Optimum ripeness and concentration. Canopy and crop thinning by hand - naturally. We've struck the perfect balance between vine and fruit development in an Oregon climate that's proven ideal for growing Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir grapes.

Pinot Gris

Pinot Gris

Our goal is to plant North America's most clonally diverse Pinot Gris vineyards, a King Estate signature style. Planting on carefully selected rootstocks across 314 certified-organic acres controls the vigor of the vines, resulting in lower crop yields with greater intensity and complexity of flavor.

Pinot Noir

Subtle differences in our clones' flavors and textures create the complexity that makes our Pinot Noir so compelling. From our 143 dedicated acres, grapes from each section of the vineyard are handled separately throughout both the fermentation and barrel aging phases for a total commitment to the grapes at every stage.

Organic Vineyards

Organic farming simply makes good sense. As practiced by King Estate, we never use toxic chemicals on the property. Instead, we deter pests through the strategic planting of species to attract beneficial insects and through the use of raptors, such as owls and kestrels.

Certification Matters

Certification Matters

Our Estate is an organic eco-system that always considers the organisms living in the soil that have an affect on the natural process. Our Oregon Tilth and Salmon Safe certifications prove that King Estate vineyards are grown according to strict standards that are verified by independent organizations.

The Estate

THE ESTATETHEESTATE

The Land

King Estate's idyllic land is as much part of our story as our wine. With a full acre of lavender, and 30 acres of organic gardens and orchards, we are proudly one of the largest organic vineyards in the world.

The Orchards

The Orchards

We grow across 14 acres of orchards, including pears, plums, apples and raspberries. We also produce around 100 pounds of honey annually, for a simply sweet addition to the Estate.

The Gardens

Crop diversity is an important aspect of our organic farming philosophy. Local food supply is an equally important part of our estate culinary philosophy, which is why we grow fruits and vegetables for our restaurant's use.

You're always going to have a better meal if your ingredients are fresh and local. If you go out and pick it now, and then cook it- that's the best.- Ed King III

Additional Gardens

In addition to using our many different crops in the Estate restaurant and other hospitality venues, we also contribute to FOOD for Lane County and various organizations that provide hunger relief in our community.

Additional Gardens

The Nursery

In keeping with our organic practices, we grow and harvest our own cover crop seed for use in our vineyards and garden areas. More than beautiful, these plants help supply vital components of the growing process.

Ground Cover

A combination of Austrian Peas, Crimson Clover, Wheat, Oats and flowering perennials provide valuable benefits to our vineyards. The precious seeds act as a green manure, and provide an insectuary for beneficial insects while producing nitrogen.

The Restaurant

The King Estate Restaurant opened in May of 2006 and has since become known for its exceptional gourmet menu. Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, the restaurant is founded on a dedication to enhancing the wine experience.
