Tasting Notes

Deep scarlet in color, the wine first impresses on the nose with aromatics of black currant, tobacco, leather, sage, bramble, blueberry, coffee, graphite and marionberry crumble. On the palate discover currant, blackberry, sage, sweet oak, dark chocolate, bramble, dust and soft leather. Balanced acid and dusty tannins present a wine that is bright, structured and chewy with a full body, yet the lower alcohol gives this Cabernet an “old school” style that is rare in today’s winemaking world. A benefit of this style is the wine can be enjoyed equally now and for years to come.

Vineyard Notes

Bacchus Vineyard is a part of the Sagemoor Group of vineyards, established in eastern Washington in 1968. As a leading source of old-vine fruit, Bacchus Vineyard fruit is in high demand. Planted in 1972, there are over 35 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon on the property. Rich flavors of black currant and dark chocolate coat the palate, with coffee elements emerging toward the long, succulent finish.

Winemaker Notes

The fruit was cold soaked for 48 hours with daily pump overs. The juice was fermented in a stainless steel open top tank with twice daily punch downs. Aged 21 months in 30% new French oak.
